Das Haus- FDSK - 1. Reviews - Pubs - 2. Ave N, Birmingham, AL - Restaurant Reviews - Phone Number. There is nothing like a good Octoberfest!!! Das Haus always offers a wonderful Octoberfest experience for Birmingham, AL residents. This fun free event is always during the month of September. You can enjoy German beer, music as well as German food. My husband and I split a bratwurst plate with German potato salad, bread and sauerkraut. This place is very dark and also outdated. Kind of feels like a basement. I'm sure you can order many a german beer, which is a plus, but other than that I don't see why you would want to come here. I know this place is meant to bring the wonderful German traditions to the states, including some foods but it just didn't do it for me. I have never just walked in without some sort of event going on, so I can't vouch for how many people usually hang out here or how much fun it would be outside of an event. That being said, I have been to numerous events here from the Witches' Ball to Secret Stages to a sideshow, and have always had a great time! Even when crowded, the bar staff are awesome.. The liquor drinks are not going to be anything special, but I do love the beer selection.. German beers to choose from. We finally tried a bit of the food the last time we went. I have heard good things about it, and the red potatoes that we had definitely lived up to it! Hope to try more food in the near future. Check their calendar to see what they have going on, because they have hosted some really fun events!! This place is a hidden gem. Das Haus is a historical and German heritage museum dedicated to preservation of 1843 community of Prussian Settlers that came from Germany to Western New York. Staff was overly friendly and helpful in selecting beer, and the food was excellent. Menu is very limited, usually only a few items, not even enough for an actual menu, but very well prepared. They swap their menus out, but always have Brats available. I was able to try two of the best tasting beers I've ever had, and I highly recommend them. Not very crowded, but I don't know why. Also, they host events here, so look them up on Facebook and see what's goin on in the future. My first experience with Das Haus was last night at their Oktoberfest. There was a $1. 0 dollar cover. It allowed you to order their traditional German food which varied from $6- $1. German band. The beer was great they even make some of their own cream lager which is worth a try. They didn't have very many . The band was a cute traditional German folk band, and the food was decent. I am only giving this place 3 stars as it's a little cheesy, the decorations are a little over the top and you didn't really get anything special for paying $1. I will definitely come back here when it is free to get in as their beer was very good, and it's sort of charming. Just definitely not worth that high of a cover. I had liked this place at one time because of the annual Oktoberfest but I stopped going after learning what seems to be a strong association with a pagan/ witchcraft bookstore/coffeehouse known as . Events related to the bookstore such as . This is suppose to be a German club promoting German culture and not something that completely contradicts it. If the pagans want to have their events in a rented hall, conference center, or their temple, fine. The point of my post is not to condemn any particular groups but I think businesses need to be up front of who they are and not hide anything from anyone. Thank you. Weird place, mostly in a good sense. Nice people around. Smiling cordial faces is always a big add on. Food is actually well done an tasty! Although, it is poorly presented on a plastic plate. Good selection of not- easy- to- find authentic German (bottled) beers. Big add on! A lot of space (mostly empty), it looks half a garage half a nice pub. Suggested for a good beer and a bratwurst with your own big party of people. Paid this place a visit on a whim, and felt terribly uncomfortable the entire time we were there. It was evident that this is an alternative place, considering the entertainment for the evening consisted of a trashy burlesque show (there's a difference between classy burlesque and trashy) and a performance from . Das Haus (Teil 2) Minecraft Film Rebirthed Redstone. Rebirthed Redstone 46,540 views.I really had no idea this place was in town and I am really glad I have been there. The bar area is pretty small but that is easily forgiven with the huge selection of German Bottled Beer they have. I was able to get a Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier that was absolutely amazing. I also got their Brat with Kraut and German style potatoes and it was one of the best Brats I've had in awhile. The seating area is large and they have a small stage with a dance floor that I'm sure has some great German music from time to time. Check this place out for sure. You won't be disappointed. During the Secret Stages event in Birmingham we dropped by to watch a band and have a beer. The beer tasted terrible. We couldn't even finish it. The place looked dirty as well. I've only been here a few times, but I like this bar because it's odd. I was hoping for an authentic, unique experience here. What we found was certainly unique, but also very strange. It's a large place with a bar in the back.. Bartender and waitress were very nice but wearing mardi gras masks? We were given mardi gras beads? There were strange decorations all over the place.. It could really be chalked up to creepy. And that's when we were slightly drunk. Only about 1. 5 people there and nobody on the dance floor. We stayed for one beer (which was very good, and in a mug so that was neat. I love German beer).. German experience is hugely overshadowed by a whole lot of cheap decorations and creepiness. I hope they figure this out because I think Birmingham could use a little German culture. My SO and I decided to check out the German Club on a Friday night because we read they were serving dinner. He spent a few months in Germany for work and I have traveled there before, so we were excited for an authentic experience.
